Addressing one of the major causes of terrorism, lack of education and misguidance, Army undertook an initiative to bring light to the lives of people of the remote area of In Poonch district Suran valley, which was 1 of the worst terrorist affected regions south of Pir-Panjal ranges. AGS Potha thus came into being on 01 Jun 2003 under the aegis of Romeo Force as ‘OP Sadbhavana Education and Welfare Trust, a model village, Potha”. It started with a meager strength because of the fear of psychosis. Army took a major step forward by sponsoring educational expenses, books, and uniforms of children of the region whose parents were killed by terrorists during the period of militancy.

 

Army Goodwill School Potha – Admissions to 2020 – 2021 Academic Year

 

In the present time, there are a total of 18 adopted children who are undergoing free education at Army Goodwill School, Potha. The school has since then grown from strength to strength and in this AGS, Potha more than 613 students, qualified teachers from all across the country, well-equipped science & a well-stocked library, computer lab and playfield with volleyball & basketball courts with free bus services.

 

The AGS school is preparing its students to accept challenges outside Jammu and Kashmir. The personality of students is given a boost by interaction with students from all parts of the country. AGS, Potha as an institution symbolizes hope, a desire to excel and above all an indomitable spirit to overcome challenges & emerge victoriously.

 

Admission Procedure

 

1. Admission for academic year opens from November to January every year and the same is advertised through newspapers, notices at prominent places of town and announcements.

2. Application forms are available at the school office and can also be downloaded through the school website.

3. A separate application with income certificate and other supporting documents has to be submitted by students seeking admission under BPL or needy category.

 

Uniform

 

Senior classes uniform

 

The school has two sets of uniforms, one for junior section and one for the senior section. For the junior section, the school has a white shirt and grey trousers for boys and a white shirt and grey skirt for girls. For the senior section, dress is a light blue shirt with grey trousers for boys and light blue kameez and grey salwar for boys. Red and black striped tie and belt and black shoes also form part of school uniform.

 

Examinations.

 

The Army Goodwill School each academic year, the AGS school will hold the following tests carrying weightage as under

 

Unit Tests 2 – 20%
Half-yearly Test 1 – 20%
Annual Test 1 – 50%

Internal Assessment – 10% (Comprising class & Homework, Projects, Assignments)

 

Minimum Attendance Necessary for annual Examination. If the candidate has not put in a minimum of 75% of the total attendance of the academic session so the candidate not be allowed to sit in the annual examination, including attendance in the last school if the candidate has been admitted on transfer.

 

The result of the annual examination shall be Released by the Principal in the 1st week of April.
